I agree I prefer this kind of horror creepy, mysterious and unsettling but without jump scares which is a big no, I stopped watching horror movies and shows for the jump scare formula they've been using although I loved them when I was a kid but not anymore, I know that jump scares are a big part of the horror genre but still I prefer the way the horror is portrait in this anime.

Also how is Sakakibara not scared around Misaki after hearing that a girl with the same name and grade as her died back on the day he first met her.

Frankly tho, Sakakibara is the very definition of someone that annoys the shit out of introverted people IRL HAHAH. I mean like dude how far can you be so extroverted in a person that keeps his/her zone away from anyone because that's what he/she prefers. I know the premise of this anime is different, it is horror and weird stuffs. So I'm just talking about IRL situations. For real man, if a person like Sakakibara deliberately and continuously barge into my comfort zone like that, I might end up punching him NGL I can be an aggressive introvert if I need to 🙃
